Comedian Nikki Glaser has revealed that she delayed her plans for a brow lift and other “invasive surgery” to take on the exciting opportunity of hosting the prestigious Golden Globe Awards.
In an appearance on CBS Mornings on December 29, 2024, the 40-year-old stand-up comic and TV host shared that she had been considering surgery for January 2025. “I was looking into a brow lift or something equally invasive,” she confessed. “But then I got the call about hosting the Golden Globes, and everything changed.”
Before the Golden Globes kicked off in the first week of January, Glaser was approached with the hosting offer. Her team asked if she could delay the surgery. Glaser quickly agreed, putting her aesthetic plans on hold. “I’m going to nail it,” she said confidently about hosting the event. “Maybe not in everyone’s eyes, but I’ll feel like I nailed it because I’ve set up a system that I couldn’t have worked harder on.”
Hosting such a high-profile event means all eyes will be on her, but Glaser isn’t backing down. She thrives under pressure. “I thrive on anxiety,” she added. “I love that feeling of, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen?’ It fuels me. I do my best work when I’m anxious.” Known for her sharp humor, Glaser is no stranger to comedic challenges. She’s recently participated in Netflix’s Tom Brady Roast but promises to take a different approach for the Golden Globes. “I don’t want to be mean at this one,” she explained. “My new challenge is to be known for being a nice celebrity. I want people to think, ‘Oh, she’s great to work with and genuinely nice.’ I’m all about honesty.”
Beyoncé’s recent struggles with balancing public life and personal care were also something Glaser could relate to. “It’s not just about the show,” Glaser said. “It’s a live, unpredictable event where anything can happen, especially with Hollywood’s biggest stars in the mix.” Reflecting on her upcoming role, Glaser said, “Hosting the Golden Globes is one of my favorite nights in television. It’s a night of film, TV, and comedy, and I get to poke fun at the industry in the best way.”
The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET. You can also stream it live on Paramount+.
